NAIP Board Approves Financial Assistance for the Summer 2006 IOLTA Workshops
Monday, April 03, 2006
- Organization: NAIP
TO: NAIP MEMBERS
I am happy to report that during a teleconference of the NAIP Board yesterday, the board unanimously approved offering some limited travel assistance for The Summer 2006 IOLTA Workshops, which as you know will be held in Honolulu, Hawaii on Thursday and Friday, August 3-4.
Specifically, the board approved a $400 stipend to be awarded to a limited number of programs "who generally attend the annual meeting, but might not otherwise be able to attend this meeting due to the increased cost associated with the Hawaii location." In reviewing the issue, it was the consensus of the board that the primary financial obstacle for this meeting was the increased cost of airfare, and that the $400 would serve to normalize this cost with other meetings. It was also noted that the hotel rates negotiated by the ABA are comparable to other meetings, and per diem costs probably similar to other major city venues.
As a result, if you have been putting off the decision to attend the meeting due to financial considerations, please consider the above. Stipends will be awarded by the Board in its discretion on a case by case basis. The total amount of funding is limited, so it is possible that not all programs that seek a stipend will receive it.
To apply, please submit a brief statement (email is fine) to my attention in support of the above criteria by April 07, 2006. Or, if you have any questions, please contact me at the number below.
